"As a man thinks in
his heart, so is he." Proverbs 23:7
"...what ever a man sows, so shall he reap." Galatians 6:7
So, what exactly
is the Law of Attraction?
The law of attraction is a way of understanding how we get the results
we get in life. The movie 'the Secret" really got people
excited about getting material things in their life, like the new car,
more money, the big house, but it also touches upon how you can change
your relationships with others, your work environment and really
any and every aspect of your life, just by changing the way you think.
Why does it work?
The law of
attraction is science, just as the law of gravity is science.
The law of gravity keeps your feet planted on the earth so you won't
float away, and the law of attraction brings to you together with other
things that are on the same frequency as your thought.
In reality the law
of attraction is a subset of the law of vibration. And as Bob
Proctor points out, "Everything vibrates or moves, nothing sits idle.
Everything is in a constant state of motion, and therefore, there is no
such thing as inertia, or a state of rest." Everything vibrates at
a certain rate or frequency.
Thoughts have one of the highest
frequencies of vibration.
The law of
attraction works like a magnet to bring you together with other things,
people, events, experiences that match your rate of vibration.
Are there other
definitions of the law of attraction?
Michael Losier's
defines the law of attraction this way, "I attract to my life
whatever I give my attention, energy, and focus to, whether positive or
negative (or whether wanted or unwanted)". I like that one, it
helps you understand how you are directing your thoughts, through
attention, energy, and focus. They are really different terms
describing the same thing.
The Abraham-Hicks
material states simply, "Ask and it is given." It is always
given.
Where to begin?
The first thing you need to do is to notice when the law of
attraction is at work in your life. It always works, but your
awareness of the law's movement in your life is the only proof you will
need. Notice the little things. For example, just last night
while I was sitting at my computer working on one of my latest projects,
my husband came in and asked me why Brent's name is on the wall where we
measure our kids' height. My cousin Brent is the most kid-like
relative I have, he is fun and full of joy. He enjoys being a kid
and celebrating life. I responded that it was totally appropriate
that his name was there, and that the kids most likely measured him when
he was here for Christmas Eve. That moment the phone rang.
It was Brent. My husband answered the phone and told Brent
that we were just talking about him. And today I am sitting here
writing about the experience. He called to invite us to his 40th
birthday party! We are definitely going. We were thinking
about Brent and I suppose you could say we were vibrating on Brent's
frequency of thought. Call it what you want, coincidence,
serendipity, chance, or luck, it is evidence of the law of attraction.
When you begin to
notice synchronicity, coincidence, serendipity, luck or karma in your life,
you begin to have an awareness of what is happening in your life and
your part in the creative process. It is a good idea to keep
a journal of the the things you notice and keep track of them. It
will attract more and more of those experiences into your life and then
you will have more faith in your ability to become a deliberate creator
of your life.
Advice on
becoming a deliberate creator?
Becoming a deliberate creator begins by getting clear on what you
want. Really clear. Most people attract randomly, it is hit
or miss. The solution is to understand what you really want in
your life and get excited about your future with the picture of the
thing you want in it. Of course you can't just wave a magic
wand and wish for a thing to happen. But the process is as
exciting as magic. When you know what you want from life, really
want, there is no effort involved for you to get it. It seems to
magically happen because the work is more like play. If you want
something bad enough you take action to get it. You buy the
lottery ticket knowing that you will win someday, and it could be today!
Gratitude is the
most important component in being a deliberate creator. In his
book, Think & Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill, reminds us to be grateful for
the things that are not seen yet. Be grateful for the ideas that
moves us. Gratitude is crucial. It puts us in the proper
mindset for manifesting. We are servants to a higher power.
Gratitude is an expression of that understanding. There is
no lasting success without this understanding.
Are their other
references to the law of attraction?
There are so many references to the law of attraction in writings
throughout history. I couldn't possibly begin to reference them
all here, but I do invite you to learn as much as you can about the law
of attraction and find a definition that resonates with you. Find
a way to understand why it works in your life and how it works and then
you will begin to work with the law of attraction instead of feeling
like the universe is working you.
Are you available
for personal consultation?
Absolutely, please visit
my website to find out more about the
services I offer and some of the group events that I facilitate.
I also host a weekly Law of Attraction in Action workshop with
my friend
Mark Andres
on Wednesday nights at Journey's of Wisdom here in Columbus. You
can check out the website for
those events here.
One of the reasons
why I enjoy teaching people about the law of attraction is because it
works! You start by taking 100% responsibility for your life. When you
understand that no outside circumstance can hold you back from achieving
your dreams that is when they begin to manifest!
So search and find a
definition of the law of attraction that suits you and go out and make
all your dreams come true!
